Product Preview: 2026 Topps Series 1

Product Preview: 2026 Topps Series 1

A new product year kicks off on February 11th with the release of 2026 Topps Series 1.  A new product year is always exciting, but this one is even more exiting as we chase some BIG rookies. I've been saying it for some time now, but the 2026 Topps product rookie class may be better than the highly touted 2024 class - and Series 1 is a strong start.

Formats

There are some controversial changes to the formats with this series, and have left many collectors upset. This includes changing hobby jumbo hit counts from 1 Auto & 2 relics to 1 auto & 1 relic, though I'm not sure people will miss a relic. Other changes include changing the pack counts in Megas (16 to 14), and blasters (7 to 6). My biggest format question, however, is will we get celebration boxes again? These were far and away the best retail format from 2025 Topps Series 1.

Rookies to Chase

New product year means new rookies to chase! The 2026 rookies class is shaping up to be A LOT stronger than 2025 and, in my opinion, will be even be better than the 2024 class.

Let's take a look at the top 10 rookies to chase (these are ranked in order of hobby value - it is not a prediction of 2026 on-field success).

  1. Roman Anthony, Red Sox

  3. Jacob Misiorowski, Brewers
  4. Cam Schlittler, Yankees
  5. Nolan McLean, Mets
  6. Samuel Basallo, Orioles
  7. Bubba Chandler, Pirates

NEW! 75 Years of Topps Gifts!

To celebrate their 75th Anniversary, Topps has inserted gift redemptions into 2026 Topps Series 1. I would not be surprised to see them in sets throughout the year in different products.

Gifts on the checklist for this set includes:

  • 2 Tickets to the Home Run Derby
  • 2 Tickets to the All-Star Game
  • 2 Tickets to a Special Event
  • $7,500 Gift Card - Topps
  • $7,500 Gift Card - Fanatics Collect
  • $1,750 Gift Card - Fanatics
  • Milwaukee Brewers Team Gift
  • Pittsburgh Pirates Team Gift
  • Philadelphia Phillies Team Gift
  • Houston Astros Gameday Experience
  • Boston Red Sox Gameday Experience
  • Baltimore Orioles Gameday Experience

Base Set

The base set features 350 player. There are 25 parallels for every base card. There are a few parallels that they now call variations because there is not one for every base card.

There are a couple of important changes to note about parallels. First, Rainbow foil parallels are now exclusive to Hobby Boxes - base rainbow foils may be as well. Sandglitter parallels remain exclusive to Jumbo Boxes, but for the first time ever, we have Sandglitter parallels

Also new are Yellow Rainbow Foil parallels (/399), 75 years of Topps parallel (/75),

Variations

Some of the parallels in previous flagship sets are not "variations" as they do not cover the full base checklist. Each of the following variations has it's own checklist:

  • Vintage Stock (/99)
  • Clear (/10)
  • Player Number (#'d to the player's number)
  • True Photo
  • Team Color
  • 1952 Variation rookies

Silver Pack Chrome Cards

Each hobby box comes with 1 silver pack inserted, and 2 per hobby jumbo. They are a chrome mojo-style 1991 Topps design cards. They can be numbered and Autographed (sticker).
