Product Preview: 2025 Topps Update Series (w/ Break Prices)

It's been a long time coming, but it will finally be here soon - 11/12 (probably): 2025 Topps Update Series. This set features the strongest rookie class of any 2025 flagship release and includes classic update features such as all star game cards, relic, etc... Note that Topps has not released an odds sheet yet, so we are still in the dark on the number of things. A sortable checklist is attached below.

Here's what we know -

Formats:

This is one topic that will be significantly informed by the odds sheet, but we have clues from the checklist and we can make some assumptions....

Base Set:

There is a 350 card base set, this includes 2 cards for some rookies - a "true rookie" and a rookie debut. Players with their true rookie cards in series 1 or 2, may also have a rookie debut base card in this set, like James Wood.

There are 30+ parallels of base cards, including returning favorites like independence day (/76), memorial day (/25), canvas (/50), wood (/25), Vintage stock (/99), clear (/10).

Inserts:

NEW! Bleacher Reachers: Set focused on Home Run hitters. 25 players on the checklist.

NEW! Night Terrors: 25 players on the checklist

NEW! Most Valuable: 40 players on the checklist - looks to be about 50% legends like Ichiro, Frank Thomas, Carew, Mantle, Maris, Ted Williams, etc.

First Pitch: Always a fun to see who made it on the checklist. There are 10 in this set:

2025 All-Star Game: Checklist of 50 All-stars!

Topps Black Gold: This returning insert has 25 players on the checklist.

Mystical: One of the more colorful inserts introduced in 2024 Update series is back. 25 Players on the checklist.

Heavy Lumber: This highly collectible Short-print is back (though we don't know yet how SP it is). 25 players on the checklist.

Homefield Advantage: HFAs are one of the most underrated SPs in the hobby. 10 players on the checklist. There are also a small (usually shorter printed) checklist of Legendary HFAs - Including Josh Gibson (would not be assigned to one of the 30 MLB teams in the break).

1990 Topps Baseball: The 35th anniversary set returns with a checklist of 50 players.

1990 Topps Chrome (Silver pack exclusive): 100 player checklist

Stars of the MLB: Everyone's favorite!

NEW! Keegan Hall Art Cards: From Topps, "The Topps x Keegan Hall Art Cards will feature 10 players, each with 4 cards that show my drawing process: from first sketch to final masterpiece."

Autograph Cards

Baseball Stars Auto: One of the most common autos in flagship baseball. There is a checklist of 47 players. There are also Dual (6 cards) & Triple (14 cards) auto variations.

1990 Topps Baseball Auto: Along with Baseball stars auto, this is another of the more common autos. There is a checklist of 106 players. There is also an All-star variation of the 1990 Topps auto (17 players).

First Pitch Auto: 8 of the 10 first pitch inserts also have an auto variation. The two that do NOT are Derek Jeter and Matt Holliday.

Real One Auto: Checklist of 45 players.

NEW! Real One Golden Mirror Auto: These look to be a welcome addition to the auto lineup for this product. Autos are gold ink and likely very short printed. There are 67 players on the checklist and it includes some of the biggest names in the game: Shohei Ohtani, Cal Raleigh, Bobby Witt Jr., Paulk Skenes, James Wood, etc.

1990 Topps Baseball Chrome Auto: These are exclusive to silver packs (Hobby & Jumbo). There are 85 players on the checklist.

Signature Tunes Dual Auto: There is only one card on the checklist - Big Sean & Big Papi

Flagship Relic Auto: These are now exclusive to Hobby boxes. There are 68 players on the checklist.

Heavy Lumber Relic Auto: There are now 88 players on this checklist, a big increase from previous flagship releases (2024 Update: 28; 2025 Series 1: 23; 2025 Series 2: 58).

Major League Material Relic Auto: 92 players on the checklist. There are also dual MLM Relic Autos (6 cards).

All-Star Stitches Relic Auto: 49 all-star players on the checklist.

Other Relic Autos: There are 3 other relic autos that have small checklists - City Connect Swatch (3 cards); Rickwood Relic Auto (2 cards); Rounding the Bases Relic Auto (7 cards).
