Product Preview: 2025 Topps Chrome Black

Product Preview: 2025 Topps Chrome Black

Topps Chrome Black makes a return in 2025 - releasing Wednesday, April 30th.

Improved in the 2025 release is the box configuration, featuring 2 packs, 6 cards per pack, and 1 encased auto. Last years release only had 3 cards plus the encased auto. As a product to break, this is a valuable improvement.

Other Checklist Notes

  • Retired Vet Chases: Albert Pujols, Bo Jackson, Cal Ripken Jr., Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Frank Thomas, George Brett, Ichiro, Ivan Rodriguez, Johnny Bench, Mike Schmidt, Roger Clemens, Rod Carew, Randy Johnson, Reggie Jackson, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey, Jr., Sandy Koufax.
  • Top 5 strongest teams on the checklist
    1. Dodgers -  With Koufax, Ohtani, Yamamoto, Sasaki, Betts all signing for the Dodgers, they are the best team in the product and it's not particularly close.
    2. Yankees
    3. Nationals
    4. Orioles
    5. Tigers
  • Teams with the longest auto checklist
    1. Orioles - 15
    2. Dodgers - 12
    3. Nationals - 11
    4. Red Sox - 9
    5. Yankees - 8
    6. Tigers - 8
    7. Brewers - 8
    8. Blue Jays - 8
  • The floor teams
    • Cubs - The Cubs do have a rookie to chase in Kevin Alcantara and a Nocturnal chase in Shota Imanaga, but without an auto on the checklist, the Cubs are not a good team in 2025 Topps Chrome Black.
    • Rays - The Rays are similarly bad with only a half of a McGriff/Longoria dual on their auto checklist. However, Caminero does show up on both the new inserts - Nocturnal & Hit the Lights.
